Gundlach Bundschu

Originally opened in 1858, it’s the second oldest winery in California and the oldest family-owned winery. Today, Jeff Bundschu is the proprietor of the winery, representing the sixth generation of the family to take control of this amazing spot in Sonoma Valley. It is located at the bottom of the Mayacamas Mountains, just a short drive from the Sonoma Plaza. The 320 acre farm produces a large variety of grapes and they are known for their Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Tempranillo, Chardonnay, Merlot, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc as well as some other specialty and limited edition offerings.

Viansa Sonoma Winery

This large Sonoma Winery is one of the most popular wineries to visit due to its amazing wines, interesting tours and the massive marketplace that is on the grounds. The winery opened in 1990, a new direction for the the Sebastiani family who are known for using Northern Italian winemaking processes with the the grapes grown in the Sonoma Valley. Buena Vista Winery

Buena Vista holds the title of the oldest winery in California, opening in 1857, just a year before Gundlach Bundshcu. It’s the winery that started it all, so if you really want to learn about the history of Sonoma Valley and the Wine Industry of California, Buena Vista is a great place to start.
